QUEEN’S COLLEGE STUDENT COPS THIRD SHOUT 3.0 TOP YOUTH
ENVIRONMENTAL SPEAKER AWARD

The national final of our speech competition, SHOUT 3.0, brought together secondary-school students from across Guyana to speak on environmental protection, sustainability, and climate action. Over 100 entries were narrowed down by a selection panel to thirty semi finalists, who competed at the live competition.

Anushka Singh of Queen’s College wowed the panel with her compelling vision for environmental transformation and earned the title of Guyana’s Top Youth Environmental Speaker 2025. Her school received a GYD 1 million environmental project grant, and she was awarded GYD 100,000 in cash, a laptop, and one year of One Communications fibre internet. Kuvina Singh of The Bishops’ High School) earned second place and was recognised for a balanced, emotionally resonant speech and awarded a cash prize and educational tech rewards for her achievement. Subrina Jagdeo of President’s College earned third place with a thoughtful and passionate call to action, along with cash and other prizes.

Anushka’s winning project proposal came to fruition and was officially launched on December 9, at Queen’s College, titled Cycle Smart. It set the stage for another impactful year of youth environmental advocacy. The launch brought together students, educators, partners including Exxon Mobil Guyana Limited and the Ministry of Education and Recover Guyana representatives to officially unveil the project signage.

Recover Guyana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and with support from ExxonMobil Guyana, is proud to introduce the Queen’s College Cycle Smart Project, the winning environmental initiative of the SHOUT National Secondary School Environmental Speech Competition 2025 (SHOUT 3.0). Now in its third year, SHOUT continues to demonstrate the impact of youth-led environmental action by empowering secondary school students to develop practical solutions to real environmental challenges within their schools.

The Queen’s College Cycle Smart Project was conceptualised and presented by the 2025 Youth Environmental Speaker, Anushka Singh, who won this year’s national SHOUT 3.0 title in June. As part of her award, she secured a GYD 1 million grant for Queen’s College to implement her proposal. With its launch, her vision moves from planning to full implementation, marking another milestone in the evolution of student-driven sustainability projects across Guyana.
